MIKE: In 1998, just before I first started in this fun residential real estate world my wife Meg came up with “It’s Your Move” as a way to help define how I think about this business. Many think real estate is the “sales” business. Not true. We are in the service business. When working with buyers or sellers I see our central role is to help clients have a great experience while helping them make informed decisions. Yes, our experience in all aspects of a real estate transaction is important but we are not making the decisions. My partner Beth Franklin and I and Portside Real Estate Group are here to guide our clients through the sometimes complicated process that leads to a successful transaction. And it’s not lost on us that future business depends on how well our clients experience today. Having served as designated (managing) broker since 2001, it reminds me of the Farmer's Insurance ad. “We know a thing or two because we’ve seen thing or two.” The team of professionals among our colleagues at Portside Real Estate Group bring a collective, collaborative knowledge that makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts. It is this attitude and practice that makes it work.

BETH: I came to the real estate profession in 2003 from a completely different background, that of telecommunications/corporate sales. In my previous life, I had three very large clients. I knew that the same lessons I learned in that life would apply to real estate – that clients are anxious to get accurate information in a timely way and that my long term success is dependent on my ability to always put my clients’ interests first.
